Imran H Sarker begins election campaign in Kurigram, manifesto published

The politician also said he would run as an independent candidate and work for the development of the area

Gonojagoron Moncho spokespers Imran H Sarker has announced he will be running for Parliament as an independent candidate from his home constituency of Kurigram 4. 

The politician also said he would work for the development of the area, and told the Dhaka Tribune that he has published his election manifesto.

“I will reach Rajibpur upazila and begin campaign activities on Thursday. I am also publishing a primary manifesto, and will make changes and amendments to it after I speak to people in the region,” Imran said.

Imran H Sarker’s election manifesto states: 

1.    In order to protect Rajibpur and Rowmari upazilas from river erosion, a dam will be built along the eastern bank of the Brahmaputra river and dredging will be carried out

2.    Jobs will be created for women and youth by building two separate special economic zones in the upazilas of Rowmari-Rajibpur and Chilmari

3.    Water and land ports of Chilmari will be made operational and upgraded to international standards

4.    A power station will be built in the Rajibpur-Rowmari area to address electricity problems in the region 

5.    In order to improve the communication link between Kurigram Sadar upazila and Rowmari-Rajibpur, a ferry service will be set up with a bridge being built over the river later on

6.    A direct rail link will be established between Dhaka and Rowmari-Chilmari in order to develop the economy of this neglected region

7.    Healthcare services in every upazila of my constituency will be updated and improved 

8.    Every educational institution will be upgraded and updated to provide quality education and enough room for all students, and non-MPO (Monthly Pay Order) institutions will be inducted into the MPO system

9.    Measures will be taken to ensure health and electricity facilities for remote char areas

10.     Computer and craftsmanship courses will be provided in order to turn young people into an able workforce

11.    Unemployment in the area will be alleviated by exporting manpower
