BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the government itself is destroying the environment that is needed to hold a free and fair election.
He made the statement while talking to the media before entering the Election Commission building in Dhaka’s Agargaon area on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, BNP leaders and activists clashed with police in front of party’s Naya Paltan office. Police vehicles were also set on fire during the clash.
Talking about the attack, Fakhrul said: “The government is destroying the environment under which a free and fair election can be held.”
He urged the government to restore fair and acceptable atmosphere for the upcoming polls.
