Seven parties to contest polls with BNP’s paddy symbol

The letter, obtained by the Dhaka Tribune, also requested the commission to defer the December 23 election be postponed by a month

Seven parties, also members of BNP-led 20-party alliance, seek BNP’s sheaf of paddy symbol to contest in the 11th general election.

The parties are- Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP), Khelafat Majlis, Jatiya Gonotantrik Party (Jagpa), Bangladesh Kalyan Party, Bangladesh Muslim League, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Bangladesh.

A letter, signed by BNP’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in this regard was submitted with the Election Commission on Sunday. Adviser to BNP chairperson Bijon Kanti Sarkar submitted the letter to the CEC.
