Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah, Barisal’s Awami League mayoral candidate, says he is confident about winning the mayoral race.
“I will accept the result, whatever it is,” he told reporters after casting his vote at Barisal College polling centre—minutes after balloting started.
“The atmosphere is peaceful so far,” he said. “Voters are coming to the centres in a joyous mood.”
Serniabat said he expects voting will be held in a fair manner and requested all voters to exercise their franchise.
Voting started at 8am and will continue, uninterrupted, until 4pm on Monday.
