SSC exams shifted to Friday, Saturday

Update : 07 Feb 2015, 10:11 AM

The government has rescheduled two papers of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examination set to be held on Sunday and Tuesday due to the 72-hour hartal called by the BNP-led alliance.

Sunday's exam will be held from 9am to 12pm on Friday and Tuesday's exam will be held from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid made the announcement in a press briefing on Saturday afternoon.

The minister also requested the BNP-led alliance to relax the hartal two hours before the exam starts and two hours after it ends.

"We cannot put the lives of our children in danger. We decided to reschedule the exams," he said.

This is third time the government has to reschedule this year's SSC exam dates because of the opposition coalition's strike.

Earlier, the SSC exams were scheduled to start on February 2. But, the exams were rescheduled to February 6 due to the hartal. Later, the exams scheduled for February 4 were shifted to February 7 as the 20-party alliance extended its previous 72-hour hartal till February 5.
