BNP-led alliance slammed for arson attacks, vandalism

Update : 18 Jan 2015, 06:36 PM

The Dhaka University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) yesterday slammed the BNP-led 20-party alliance for recent terrorism, including arson attack and vandalism, across the country.

“Leaders and activists of the BNP-led 20-party alliance are attacking on public transport, law enforcers, school-going children indiscriminately to make Bangladesh a failure state before the world” Duta said this in a written statement.

The ruling party Awami League-backed teachers’ panel also demanded exemplary punishment of the attackers and urged government to take stern action against the perpetrators to ensure safety to people of the country and their property.

The statement was signed by Duta President Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed and General Secretary ASM Maksud Kamal.

In the statement, they urged the government to take initiatives so that the socio-economic development of the country would boost up smoothly.

The statement said BNP-Jamaat forces had already killed 27 people by throwing petrol bombs, setting fire on vehicles and destroying the country’s property.

It also called upon the government to work with utmost sincerity for the development of the country.

Terming January 5 polls as fair, they said the election was held for developing the nation and democracy.

There is no option to assume in power without an election in a democratic country, they mentioned in the statement.

Besides, the BNP-Jamaat alliance has set shameful instances of fraudulent and hypocrisy by releasing false statement through fake signature of American Congressmen and lies over the telephone call of Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Amit Shah that damaged the image of the country’s people, said the statement.
