The High Court yesterday issued a rule of contempt of court against National University Vice-Chancellor Dr Harun-or-Rashid in a case filed for violating its stay order.
A bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Kazi Ejazul Hoque Akando also directed the VC to give a reply in this regard within ten days after receiving the copy.
On September 23 last year, the HC in response to a writ petition filed by one NU former lecturer named Hafizur Rahman issued a three-month stay order on his dismissal from the job and directed the NU authorities to reply why the decision should not be declared illegal.
The authorities concerned denied to accept the HC copy when Hafizur handed over it.
