Update : 17 Nov 2014, 03:11 PM

Dhaka University admission aspirants, who had been on protest for one month seeking reinstatement of the second time admission test facility, have postponed their hunger strike protest at Central Shaheed Minar on Monday.

The hunger strike was called off around 6pm after a team of Dhaka University teachers assured them to press their demands to the university authority.

Professor M M Akash of economics department led the team and convinced the protesters to postpone hunger strike saying, “We will press your demands to the respective authority in legal procedure and such hunger strike can harm you physically.”

Among the DU teachers, Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan, Samina Luthfa, Moshahida Sultana, Fahmidul Haq, Golam Azam  attended the team.

On October 14, DU authorities decided to allow only freshly passed HSC students to appear in its admission tests for once only from the 2015-16 academic sessions, after witnessing a mass failure of students in this year’s admission tests.

The decision triggered an outcry among the students who did not qualify in this year’s admission test.

On November 12, DU admission aspirants commenced hunger strike at Central Shaheed Minar as per their pre-scheduled programme on November 12.
