Police have detained eight suspected members of Islami Chhatra Shibir, who are also students of Dhaka University, from Sir AF Rahman Hall of the university early Monday.
The detainees are Md Sohel, 4th year student of Anthropology department; Morshedul; Wadul, 3rd year student of Anthropology department; Humayun, 2nd year student of Sociology department; Masud Rana, 4th year student of Anthropology department; Alauddin, 2nd year student of Arabic department; Ruhul, first year student of Sociology department; and Shimul Hossain, 2nd year student of Persian department.
DU acting proctor Amzad Ali confirmed the Dhaka Tribune about the incident.
"Some BCL activists led by the hall unit General Secretary Ruhul Amin caught the eight around 2:30am and handed them over to Shahbagh police," he added.
