The authority of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has taken decision that they would not confer honors degree on a student who has allegedly forged certificate of the university to get admission to another university.
Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof Md Rafiqul Haque asked authorities concerned to take immediate steps against Md Ekramul Haque, son of Md Mominul Haque of Old Babupara in Syedpur upazila, Nilphamari, as soon as possible.
The VC also asked them not to confer any certificate or degree on him, said Additional Registrar (academic) Md Sarwar Jahan.
Ekramul, a student of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology faculty under the university, has taken admission to MBA course of Brac University’s Fall Semester in 2012 by using a fake certificate of Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics (honors), although he is yet to complete honours degree from the BAU.
According to public university rules, a student is considered as a student of the university till after eight years of his/her enrollment, whether he/she attends classes or examination or not. According to the rule, Ekramul is still a student of the university.
Being informed, the BAU authority formed an investigation committee headed by Former Students’ Affairs Adviser Prof Md Sultan Uddin Bhuiya of Agronomy department one month back and the recent action has been taken according to the recommendation of the probe committee, Sarwar Jahan added.
On behalf of the university, he also requested other universities not to enroll Ekramul Haque to their institute.
