Around 39 admission seekers have submitted their application forms against one seat of admission in Chittagong University for the 2014-2015 academic session under seven faculties.
SM Akber Hossain, deputy registrar of Academic section at CU and the member secretary of the Admission Committee, said: “A total of 179,573 applicants have lodged their application against 4,588 seats under seven faculties of the CU in this year.”
“Nearly 17,225 more admission seekers have applied than that of 2013-2014 academic year, while 498 more seats have been added in this year.”
Earlier, a total number of 162,348 aspirants had applied for the 4,090 seats available in the 2013-2014 academic session, said admission committee members.
A total 28,954 applications have applied for B-1 unit under the Arts and Humanities faculty while 24,359 applicants for the C-1 unit under Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), said SM Akbar Hossain.
Some 1,293 applied for C-2, 4,826 for C-3, 16,494 for A-1 while 6,961 for A-2 unit. B-2, B-3, B-4, B-5, B-6 and B-7 units have respectively received 4,988, 841, 608, 424, 376 and 6,391 applications from the aspirants.
Under the Social Science Faculty, D-1, D-2 and D-3 have respectively got total 10,442, 8,063 and 12,356 applications from the admission seekers while E- unit under Law Faculty has got 14,803 applications.
A total number of 22,277 aspirants applied for F-1, F-2 and F-3 units under Biological Science Faculty while G-unit under Engineering Faculty has also received 15,117 applications.
