The Rajshahi University of Engineering Technology (RUET) authority has declared the university closed for indefinite period on Thursday night.
The residential students were also asked to vacate their halls by 10am on Friday.
Prof Rafiqul Alam Beg, vice-chancellor of the university, said: “The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of academic council meeting around 9pm following a Shibir-BCL clash on the campus.”
Earlier in the day, Shibir RUET unit General Secretary Ahmed Yasir and Organising Secretary Harun-or-Rashid along with ten other Shibir men were picked up from a residential hall following chase and counter chase between Shibir and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the campus.
Later, two Shibir men were also beaten by RUET unit BCL activists and were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
