Chittagong University authorities formed two probe committees yesterday over the vandalism of the Department of English on Sunday.
Pro-VC Iftekhar Uddin Chowdury was made the head of one of the committees which would investigate into session jam and test result debacle while another probe committee, headed by Dr Imran Hossain, dean of Arts and Humanities faculty, would investigate the vandalism incident, Proctor Siraj-Ud-Dowla said.
Around 37 students of 2011-2012 session of the department who failed to sit for the year end final exam, vandalised the departmental office demanding to be allowed to appear for the examination.
The students also placed a memorandum to the VC demanding seven points including a special examination for the failed students.
Azmeri Ara, chiarman of the department said the examinations of different years would be held on time.
The VC also said that they would take initiative after receiving the reports. Proctor Siraj-Ud-Dowla said the committees had been asked to submit the reports soon.
