All the academic activities of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) will resume on August 3 after an indefinite strike following an infighting of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
A press release signed by Fazlur Rahman, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of CUET, has said this on Thursday.
The decision came from a meeting with Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Jahangir Alam in the chair.
Registrar, all faculty deans, heads of departments and directors of institutes of KUET were present at the meeting.
The students’ dormitories, however, will be reopened on August 2, said the release.
The authority closed CUET for sine die after a factional clash between two groups of ruling party’s student wing, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) CUET unit that left one student critically injured on June 17.
The central BCL committee, however, had formed a three-member committee headed by Sheikh Rasel, official secretary of BCL.
Sheikh Rasel said the body was asked to submit the probe report within three days to the BCL president Bodiuzzaman Sohag.
“We had already visited CUET campus and held a meeting with the authority and recorded the deposition of witnesses,” said Rasel.
He further said: “Stern action will be taken against the BCL men responsible for the incident.”
