The educational institutions across the country will be closed during Ramadan as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday rejected a proposal placed by the Education Ministry of keeping those open until one-thirds of the fasting month.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and Primary and Mass Education Minister Mustafizur Rahman will soon circular an official announcement in this regard.
The PM turned down the appeal during the informal discussion after the cabinet meeting held at the Secretariat.
In favour of the rejection, Hasina showed logic that the mothers would have to work until dawn during the Ramadan. As a result, it would be a burden for them to take their children to schools in the morning. In this situation, the ministries concerned should try to keep the educational institutes open limiting the summer vacation, said a minister seeking anonymity, who was present in the meeting.
