A group with vested interest is trying to mislead the students’ movement to recover illegally occupied halls of Jagannath University. As a result a section of the students captured the Cooperative Bank’s land opposite the university on Tuesday, State Minister for Rural Development and Cooperative Masiur Rahman Ranga has said.
Terming the bank’s land capture as ‘‘sad,’’ the state minister said: “It’s a property of around 15m cooperative activists and their families. The government has already finalised its plan to construct a multi-storey building on the land. The authority concerned has already given financial allocation and approval of design in this regard.”
The state minister urged the students to remain vigilant so that a third party cannot take advantage out of the illegal capture of the bank’s land.
