The students of Jagannath University have declared an empty plot adjacent to Bangladesh Shomobay Bank as their Teacher-Student Centre (TSC).
The students declared to build TSC on the empty plot on Tuesday afternoon which is opposite to the main gate of the university.
Convener of JnU hall recovery parishad (committee) Shariful Islam told the Dhaka Tribune: “We want to make this empty plot into our TSC as the university does not have adequate land.”
Meanwhile, the students gathered materials from roads and set the plot on fire.
Fire-fighters rushed to the spot to douse the blaze.
Earlier in the morning, the agitating students started their sit-in demonstrations in front of Bangladesh Bank Sadarghat Branch.
