Six student-representatives of Eden College have submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday afternoon demanding the educational institution be regarded as a full-fledged university.
The representatives are Akhi, Sweety, Ashrafi, Annanya, Borna and Mukta Baroi.
Somajtantrik Chatra Front general secretary Imran Habib also accompanied them.
Mukta Baroi said: “We have urged the PM to take effective steps within 10 days or else the students will set strict programs.”
Hundreds of students have brought out a protest rally from Eden college campus at around 11:45pm.
Later, police have barred the rally when they reached Shahbagh asking a representative team to submit the memo to PM.
Shahbagh police station officer-in-charge Sirajul Islam said: “The protest rally was barred to avoid traffic jam and chaos. We asked the students to send a representative team to the PM.”
