The status of headmasters and salaries for primary school teachers will be raised soon, Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman has said.
This will be effective after the consent of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said during a press conference while announcing scholarships for meritorious students on Sunday.
The status of headmasters will be elevated to second class and the pay scale for assistant teachers will be raised, the minister said.
The government is considering a new pay scale for the country’s teachers and free education for all, he said. “The premier has already issued directives in this regard.”
The minister expressed shock at the death of seven students in Jessore, the ministry will disburse money from its fund for the treatment of the injured children in the same incident.
A total of 54,412 meritorious students received scholarships. 21,978 students will get Tk200 per month under talent pool and the rest Tk150 monthly under general quota.
