SSC, equivalent exams begin Sunday

The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations for 2014 will begin across the country on Sunday.

A total of 1,432,727 students are set to appear in the examinations in 2, 942 centres. Of them, 733,202 are male and 699,525 are female. 

At a press conference on Saturday, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said all preparation have been taken for holding the examination without any hindrance. 

Asked about the question paper leak in Primary Terminal Examination, Nahid said the government has taken action against those involved with the leaking.

The number of total examinees has risen to 1,29,554 from previous year’s 13,03,203.

A total of 296 students will sit for the examinations from seven overseas centres.

This year, the SSC examinations will be held under creative question papers except Bangla 2nd paper, English 1st and 2nd papers and Mathematics, the minister said.

The examinations were supposed to start on February 2, and the exams have been shifted to February 9 due to Biswa Ijtema.

The written examinations will end on March 20 as the practical exams are scheduled to begin on March 16. The practical exams are set to begin in a couple of days.

The morning shift examinations will be held from 10am to 1pm while that of afternoon shift from 2pm to 5pm.
