Update : 02 Feb 2014, 02:04 PM

The campus reporter of the Dhaka Tribune was injured after police and Bangladesh Chhatra League cadres attacked on demonstrating students at Rajshahi University on Sunday.

Law enforcers fired rubber bullets on Nazim Mridha and his colleagues at close range when they sought comments from officials regarding the attacks.

Nazim, a fourth-year law student, sustained profound rubber bullet-injuries below his right knee but was still providing the latest updates of the campus to the Dhaka Tribune.

His colleague from Sheersha News, Zakir Hossain, a third-year student of history, sustained a broken arm after police charged batons on the journalists.

“We sought comments, but the on-duty police official pushed us away,” Nazim said. “We followed him. But soon the other constables charged batons and fired rubber bullets to disperse us.”

A total of nine journalists were injured during the scuffle. The others were: Gulbar Ali, Fahim from Manab Kantha, Mostafizur Rahman, Zahirul Islam, Roni and Golam Rabbani of Masranga Television.
