'New policy for primary education within a month'

State minister says policy will ensure effective monitoring, accountability and implementation of activities across government primary schools

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj on Sunday said a new policy will be formulated within a month to ensure effective management, monitoring and accountability of primary education activities.

"All officials and employees in the primary education sector will discharge their duties in line with the new policy, while activities of government primary schools will also be conducted accordingly," he said.

The state minister was speaking as the chief guest at a daylong training workshop titled "Conducting Class Activities, Monitoring, Accountability and Reform of Administrative Structure in Primary Education of Bangladesh" at the Shilpakala Academy here.

"We will formulate the new policy within a month . . . The primary education family and government primary schools will also be run accordingly," Bobby Hajjaj said.

Highlighting the government's plans for the development of primary education, he said members of the primary education family were working relentlessly to build an educated Bangladesh in line with the prime minister's vision.

He said efforts were underway to ensure that the implementation of the government's electoral pledges becomes visible within a short time.

"The primary education family will be the key force in realising the prime minister's dream for Bangladesh," he said.

Deputy Director of Primary Education in Barisal Division Nilufa Yasmin presided over the workshop.

Director (Planning and Development) of the Directorate of Primary Education Mirajul Islam Ukil and Deputy Secretary (Administration-1) Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain Sarker attended the event as special guests.

Officials and employees from different levels of the primary education sector attended the workshop, where various aspects of classroom activities, monitoring, accountability and reform of the administrative structure were discussed.
