Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday sent greetings and gifts to Sadman Shihab, son of disappeared BNP leader Khaled Hasan Sohel, after he achieved an outstanding result in this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman congratulated Shihab on his achievement and sent him flowers, sweets and storybooks as a congratulatory gift.

Shihab is the son of Khaled Hasan Sohel, former general secretary of the Sutrapur thana unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal. Sohel was allegedly picked up by plainclothes men identifying themselves as law enforcement personnel in Old Dhaka on November 28, 2013. His whereabouts have remained unknown for more than a decade.

After the SSC results were published on Monday, the prime minister instructed his Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon to deliver the gifts to Shihab.

Following the instruction, a delegation led by Krishibid Mokhsedul Momin Mithun, member secretary of ‘Amra BNP Paribar’, and coordinated by Atikur Rahman Rumon, visited Shihab’s residence in Banglabazar, Old Dhaka.

The delegation handed over the gifts to Shihab on behalf of the prime minister and wished him a bright and successful future.

Among others, ‘Amra BNP Paribar’ members Masud Rana Liton and Mustakim Billah, Chhatra Dal leader Abdullah Al Misbah, and Northern Students’ Forum Vice-President Farzana Rimi were present.
