Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon on Saturday warned that invigilators and centre secretaries will face punishment if cheating occurs during this year’s examinations.
“If cheating takes place at any examination centre this time, both the centre secretary and the teachers concerned will be punished,” he said.
He made the remarks while exchanging views with centre secretaries of the Comilla region at the Comilla Shilpakala Academy. Officials of the Comilla Education Board, centre secretaries and other relevant staff were present at the meeting.
Regarding CCTV installation at examination centres, the minister said each room must be equipped with cameras.
“Irregularities usually occur during MCQ examinations. Therefore, there will be no scope to claim a 30-minute technical disruption at that time,” he said, adding that in case of power outages, heads of institutions must ensure backup through IPS.
On coaching centres, he said such institutions should be brought under a licensing system.
“Everything, both at home and abroad, requires a licence. But coaching centres are being set up indiscriminately like mushrooms—should they not be brought under licensing? They will be, gradually,” he added.
Among those present were Members of Parliament from Comilla constituencies—Monirul Haque Chowdhury (Comilla-6), Jasim Uddin (Comilla-5), Abul Kalam (Comilla-9), and Mobasher Alam Bhuiyan (Comilla-10); Chairman of the Comilla Education Board Professor Md Shamsul Islam; Deputy Commissioner Md Reza Hasan; and Superintendent of Police Md Anisuzzaman.
