One teacher and 19 officials of the National University have been sent on retirement under the voluntary retirement scheme upon completion of 25 years of service.
The decision came at the 269th Syndicate meeting of the university, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr ASM Amanullah, according to a press release issued on Sunday by the university’s acting director of public relations, Mostafizur Rahman.
The meeting was held on Saturday evening at the university’s city office in Dhanmondi.
The retirement approvals followed the provisions for voluntary retirement and retirement in the interest of the university, which were incorporated into the university’s service regulations.
These provisions were initially approved at the 263rd Syndicate meeting on November 3 and subsequently endorsed by a special Senate session on December 15.
Prof Dr Abu Md Iqbal Rumi Shah of the Department of History, along with 19 other officials, was sent on retirement.
