Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on Tuesday recommended publishing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's book distribution picture on cover pages of all the books of primary school from 2017-18 session.
The committee also suggested a slogan styled “Quality Education, Nation’s Promise” for keeping in the cover pages of the primary level books.
The committee made those recommendations in a meeting at Bureau of Non-Formal Education in Tejgaon with committee chairman Motahar Hossain in the chair.
The meeting also discussed about the overall situation of non-formal education, book printing issues and other primary education related issues, says a press release.
The press statement also said the committee suggested setting up computer labs in every primary training institution and providing vehicles for those institutions.
It also disclosed that around 2,500 posts for education officers or assistant education officers are remaining vacant against 65,000 primary educational institutions.
The committee members raised question how quality of education will be ensured remaining a huge number of posts vacant.
From the meeting’s working paper, it was also found that one assistant education officer has to inspect on an average 20 schools in every month.
“There is no alternative to regular inspection of primary schools by the education officers. And for this, the committee recommended the ministry to give more emphasis on this issue,” Mohammad Ilyas, a member of the committee, told the Dhaka Tribune.
