The Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) has issued warning notices to around 100 private polytechnic institutes in the country for failing to move to their permanent campuses in due time.
Professor Abul Kashem, chairman of the BTEB, told the Dhaka Tribune that these institutes were given licenses on the condition that they move to their permanent campuses within five years of establishment.
The notices have been served as this did not occur, said the Chairman.
“We served them with notices as they have failed to fulfill the term on which they got license. When these institutes got licenses, they pledged that they would shift to their permanent campuses within five years. But, they failed to do so,” said Professor Abul Kashem.
Upon being served with the notices, the institutes sought extra time to move to their permanent campuses. The board has given them one more year to shift, said the chairman.
Abul Kashem said no private polytechnic institute that does not have a permanent campus, would be served with license from now on.
