Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique on Saturday urged all patriotic people to work for the protection of historical inscriptions so that the young generation can know the real history of the nation.
DU VC said this while addressing a programme on an investigative report publication ceremony titled “Lost Inscriptions of Dhaka” at Nabab Nawab Ali Chwodury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University in the morning.
The committee to compile books on architecture of Dhaka published the report.
He said: “It is a great shame that we lose historical evidence of our nation. Actually we lose our real history of ideology through the loss of inscriptions”.
He also demanded the punishment to those involved in such activities.
Among others, archaeologist and translator Abul Kalam Mohammad Zakaria, Maulana Farid Uddin Masud, architect Shamsul Wares and journalists, artists, researchers and photographers were present in the programme.
