The government has requested the demand for textbooks for the 2026 academic year for secondary-level educational institutions and Ebtedayee (primary level in the madrasa system).

On Tuesday, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) asked for the demand from regional deputy directors across all zones.

According to an official directive from the DSHE, necessary steps have been instructed to be taken in line with the guidelines provided by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) for submitting textbook demands online for the 2026 academic year.

Earlier, the NCTB had sent a letter to the director general of the DSHE requesting the demand for textbooks for both the Ebtedayee and secondary levels.

In the letter dated March 25, the NCTB said that printing and delivering free textbooks to all students across the country by January 1, 2026, is a priority and a matter of national importance for the government.
