Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has imposed a ban on all types of processions, meetings, rallies, and gatherings on campus.

The directive was announced on Saturday through a notice signed by the university’s proctor, Dr Md Amzad Hossain.

The notice said that all students, teachers, officers, and staff of the university are informed that, following an incident on Friday night, the decision has been made to maintain a peaceful and orderly academic and research environment, uphold law and order, and ensure overall security.

As a result, no processions, meetings, rallies, or public gatherings will be allowed on campus without prior approval.

The notice also warned that anyone violating this directive would face strict action under university regulations.

It is worth mentioning that a clash broke out on Friday night around 9:30pm between students of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and those from the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department following a verbal altercation at a tea stall.

The confrontation escalated and continued in phases until 12:30am, leaving the university’s proctor and five students injured.
