At least 25 people were injured as Chhatra Dal and Islami Chhatra Shibir activists clashed with Chhatra League men at Islamic University campus on Saturday. Quoting witnesses police said a chase and counter-chase began between the activists of Chhatra League and Chhatra Dal when a JCD activist slapped a BCL man near the TSC area in the morning. At one stage, some Shibir men took the side of Chhatra Dal activists and attacked the BCL men, triggering a clash that left 25 people injured. At least 10 cocktails were exploded and several gunshots heard during the clash. On information, police rushed in and fired 15 rounds of teargas shells to disperse them. A microbus, a bus, five motorcycles and the registrar’s office of the university were vandalised during the calsh. Additional police have been deployed on the campus to avert further trouble.
