Jagannath University (JnU) has mandated all enrolled students to carry their ID cards for entry into the campus.
The directive was issued on Saturday, in a notice signed by the university's Proctor, Professor Dr Tajammul Haque.
According to the notice, the decision was made to ensure order and security within the campus.
The notice also says that this rule will come into effect starting Sunday, coinciding with the resumption of academic activities after the winter break.
Professor Dr Tajammul Haque said: "Recent tensions related to the publication of the Chhatra Dal convening committee have created instability on campus. We anticipate potential clashes and have taken this measure to identify students and prevent unauthorized access. This will also help maintain peace and discipline."
He urged students and faculty to support this initiative to uphold security and foster a conducive academic environment.
