Three more coordinators and co-coordinators have resigned from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement at Jahangirnagar University (JU).
On Tuesday, they announced their resignations, citing personal reasons.
The resigning coordinator is Tamim Mostari from the 49th batch, along with co-coordinators Afridi Hasan from the 50th batch and Hasan Mirza from the 51st batch. All three are students in the Department of Environmental Science.
In their resignation statement, they said that they participated in the movement from our moral standpoint, just as other JU students did. As ordinary students, they were not involved in many activities beyond the movement.
Since they have successfully achieved the primary objective of our movement, they feel there is no longer a need for us to remain in this committee at this time. Therefore, they voluntarily resign from the JU branch of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
This follows the resignation of branch coordinator Mahfuzul Islam Megh on August 11, shortly after the government fell.
He announced his resignation on Facebook, saying: “This decision is from a standpoint of moral values.”
Additionally, coordinator Labib Ahsan was dismissed due to allegations of involvement in criminal activities, while Nazmul Islam Limon was relieved of his position for violating discipline and misusing the coordinator title for personal influence.
Most recently, on October 3, 17 coordinators and co-coordinators from the JU branch of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement collectively resigned during a press conference at the university’s Student-Teacher Center. A 38-member coordinating committee for the movement was formed on July 13.
