Brac Business School to host policy dialogue on financial and economic reforms in Bangladesh

Brac Business School of Brac University is set to organize a significant event, the "Policy Dialogue on Financial and Economic Reforms in Bangladesh," on November 16, 2024.

The event will feature panel discussions and poster presentations, aiming to address critical financial and economic challenges in the country.

Key topics to be covered include evaluating the current banking and financial system and identifying areas for improvement, exploring strategies to enhance capital market efficiency and transparency, tackling issues such as anti-money laundering, combating the financing of terrorism, and capital flight, as well as assessing policies on central bank independence, monetary and fiscal measures, and tax reforms.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Professor Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, advisor to the Ministry of Finance, Commerce, and Science and Technology of the Interim Government of Bangladesh.

He will be joined by policymakers, industry leaders, and academic experts who will share their insights on these critical topics.

The objectives of the event include identifying weaknesses in current financial and economic policies, proposing actionable reforms, and recommending measures for effective implementation to foster a financial system that is efficient, transparent, and beneficial for all stakeholders.

The event will also include a poster presentation competition, open from October 16 to 5 November 2024. Cash prizes of Tk 50,000, Tk 30,000, and Tk 20,000 will be awarded to the top three submissions. Selected recommendations from the event will be published in a white paper.
