Following the 9-point demands of the July revolution, Hasnat Abdullah, the coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has presented a 14-point demand concerning Dhaka University.
He outlined these demands on his Facebook page on Monday evening.
Hasnat Abdullah has also sought opinions on additional demands that could be included in the Facebook post.
He shared the demands on Facebook around 6pm, and within two hours, the post received over 2,000 comments.
The demands presented by Hasnat Abdullah are as follows:
- Prohibit partisan student politics on campus and take steps to make the student council effective
- Identify and file cases against the student leaders and activists from the July Revolution who attacked students
- Withdraw false cases and ensure compensation for students who have been victims of student league harassment and false cases over the past 15 years
- Publish and implement a roadmap to turn the university into a fully residential institution, ensuring seat allocation based on merit until then
- Construct new halls for female students as soon as possible to address accommodation shortages, and increase the number and facilities of common rooms for female students
- Reform and reallocate student seats in Salimullah Muslim Hall
- Establish a university law to permanently abolish the "guest room" and "common room" culture
- Scholarships for First-Year Students: Provide scholarships based on need for first-year students
- Modernize and expand the central library and reading rooms in halls
- Ensure the quality of food in university canteens and cafeterias, and increase subsidies if necessary
- Regulate public transport within the campus to ensure a safe environment, only allowing it with the authorities' approval
- Modernize the university’s medical center and establish pharmacies in every hall to ensure student health care
- Upgrade the service quality of the Registrar Building
- Rebuild the central mosque with modern architectural standards
