Dr Mamun Ahmed, a professor from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, has been appointed as the new Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) of Dhaka University (DU).
The Ministry of Education announced the appointment in a notification signed by Deputy Secretary Md Shahinur Islam on Thursday.
According to the notification: "Under Article 13(1) of the Dhaka University Order, 1973, with the approval of the President and Chancellor, Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed has been appointed as Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) of this university under the following conditions:
(a) His term will be for four years from the date of joining.
(b) He will receive payments equivalent to his current position.
(c) He will enjoy all other benefits related to the post as per the university's rules and will reside on the university campus.
(d) He will exercise the powers and perform the duties prescribed by the university's statutes and laws, as well as those delegated by the vice-chancellor.
(e) The president and chancellor may revoke this appointment at any time if deemed necessary."
