Dhaka University (DU) is likely to resume classes and academic activities in the last week of September, following a suspension that began on July 17 due to the nationwide Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
According to a university press release, the resumption is contingent upon approval from the Syndicate, the university's highest policymaking body.
To facilitate the reopening, DU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan convened a meeting on Sunday with the deans of faculties, chairmen of departments, directors of institutes, and chiefs of various offices.
The meeting took place at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.
Attendees included DU Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Sayema Haque Bidisha, DU Treasurer Dr Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, and Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed.
The university has been diligently working to ensure security and discipline within its halls, departments, and institutes.
The administration has organized several view-exchange meetings between teachers and students to address concerns and prepare for the return to academic activities.
