Classes at Jagannath University will commence virtually on August 18, while the Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Student Hall has been officially opened as of Thursday.

This decision was made during the university's 98th syndicate meeting held on Thursday, as confirmed by the acting registrar, Dr Aynul Islam.

Additionally, the syndicate decided to cover the medical expenses of the injured students.

A syndicate member said: "We are working to restore stability on campus, which is why we decided to start online classes. Further decisions will be made in consultation with the leaders of the student movement.

"I believe that if an interim government is formed, student politics may cease on campus, but whether politics will be banned will be determined by the new government," he added.

Meanwhile, the acting registrar, Prof Dr Md Aynul Islam, mentioned that some students entered the hall last night, and the office was officially opened on Thursday.
