Amidst the scorching heatwave gripping the nation, Barisal University (BU) has decided to take online classes from April 22 to April 30, citing health hazards such as heatstroke.
However, all scheduled exams during this period will take place on campus.
Faisal Mahmud, deputy director of BU's Public Relations Office, said that the decision was made following an emergency meeting of the university syndicate on Sunday afternoon, chaired by BU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Badruzzaman Bhuiyan.
The university administration prioritized student health in making this decision, advising students to take necessary precautions, including staying indoors either in their halls or at home.
