10 DSHE employees to face disciplinary action for MPO corruption

Update : 22 Aug 2013, 07:18 PM

Some 10 employees of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) would face disciplinary actions as a probe report found them guilty of illegally awarding Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme to 287 teachers of school and madrasas who were not eligible, officials said.

Director General of the DSHE Fahima Khatun said they would take disciplinary actions against the employees, adding that they would also send letters to the headmasters of the schools concerned to take actions against the teachers who bagged the MPO through illegal process.

The DG also said they would take necessary actions so that corruption could not take place in the MPO awarding.

The officials also quoted the probe report as saying that the 287 teachers could never get the MPO if proper legal process was applied, and added that they bagged the MPO by bribing the 10 employees.

The government under the scheme provides 90% of salary of the non government teachers who are enlisted to the MPO.
