Bangladesh's first international boarding school, Haileybury Bhaluka, will begin operations in August, offering an exceptional British educational experience for boys aged 11-18 beyond a grade-oriented curriculum.
The school has been established with the objective of providing a welcoming, compassionate, and supportive atmosphere to all its students. It is located in a rural setting of Bhaluka upazila in Mymensingh, covering an area of 850 acres, and is situated 75km north of Dhaka.
This institution is affiliated with Haileybury College in the UK and is committed to maintaining its reputation as the top-performing school in Bangladesh, both academically and otherwise.
Christopher Nolan, ex-UK prime minister Clement Attlee, Nobel Prize-winning author Rudyard
Kipling, English cricketer Sam Billings, one of the founders of the Commonwealth Lionel
Curtis and economist Thomas Robert Malthus are all Haileybury UK alumni.
Haileybury Bhaluka Academic Director Sandeep Ananthanarayanan said: “Every teacher at the school is certified by Harvard. The campus is set to be completed by March, with classes beginning in August.”
Miran Ali is a former student of Haileybury UK from the class of 91. He currently serves as the managing director of Bitopi group, vice president of BGMEA, and honorary consul of Slovakia in Bangladesh. Additionally, he is the country secretary of the Haileyburians Society.
Miran Ali said virtually: "I went to Haileybury a long time ago, and it was one of the defining years of my life. When we talk about memories, it was really the experience because I had studied in Bangladesh until class 10."
He said that being in a place with so many facilities and different teachers was a completely different atmosphere. It was a real eye-opener for him.

Last year, 61% of Haileybury students received an opportunity to study at Ivy League and Russell Group universities, such as Harvard, MIT, LSE, Oxford, and Cambridge.
Haileybury Bhaluka Founding Headmaster Simon O’Grady proudly said: “Through our scholarship program, a student from a Bengali medium school in Bangladesh was awarded a full free scholarship. The boy is indeed very talented, we do not discriminate here, be it Bengali or English medium. The institution is offering academic excellence scholarships worth $15 million. Students could get merit-based scholarships up to 100% through the fund.”
He said: “We aim to nurture our students to become prosperous, globally-minded individuals who can excel in top universities. Our students have the ability to compete with students from any institution in the world and emerge victorious.”
He believed that Haileybury Bhaluka would be his greatest achievement after successfully leading four international schools.
Haileybury Bhaluka campus boasts modern facilities including smart classrooms, spacious playgrounds, a swimming pool, golf and basketball courts, a professional gym, a modern music school, and a world-class cricket pitch.
Haileybury Bhaluka Adviser SMA Faiz said: "Many parents are choosing to send their children to study abroad in countries like Malaysia or the West. However, we can change this by creating a world-class educational institution. Our children can receive high-quality education that is widely recognized globally, without having to leave the country."
He said that he decided to join Haileybury Bhaluka as an adviser because he truly wants to create the best school in Bangladesh, which everyone can be proud of.
