The final phase of SUB Regional Quiz Olympiad-2023 was held on Saturday at the SUB’s permanent campus.
At this time, a total of 180 students from 50 different colleges who won from the first round from Uttara, Narayanganj and Narsingdi regions participated in the final phase of Quiz Olympiad.
A total of 10 students were announced as winners in the final round.
The winners are Tashfiq (1st place), Gias Uddin Islamic Model and College, Narayanganj, Maria (2nd place) Narsingdi Oxford College, Narsingdi, Akhi Noor (3rd place) Scholastica Model College, Narsingdi, Saifullah (4th place) Narsingdi Presidency College, Narsingdi, Didar (5th) Uttara Model College, Uttara, Safayat (6th place) Uttara Trust College, Uttara, Saima Akhter (7th place) Nurunnecha School and College, Narayanganj, Himel (8th place) Uttara Model College, Uttara, Redwan (9th place) Srishti Central College, Uttara, Al-Amin (10th place) Satirpara Kali Kumar Institution School and College, Narsingdi.
State University of Bangladesh (SUB)’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman handed over the cheque and crest to the winners of the final stage after announcing the results.
SUB’s Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nawzia Yasmin, Treasurer Prof Dr Md Hassan Kawsar and Registrar Brigadier General Md Jamal Hossain were also present at this time.
On behalf of the winners, Tashfiq, who got 1st position, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the State University of Bangladesh for orchestrating a truly remarkable event.
He emphasized that such occasions play a pivotal role in fostering a heightened interest in extracurricular knowledge among participants.
In the first phase of the Regional Quiz Olympiad which started in October 2023, the students of each college competed among themselves and were selected for the final phase.
Selected students from various colleges started arriving at the SUB campus from 10am on the day of the final phase.
Quiz starts at 12pm and ends at 1pm. After lunch, a discussion session was held with the principals and teachers invited from various colleges to distribute prizes.
A total of 50 principles of 50 colleges were given special honors and crests on the occasion. Mir Mohammad Mosaddake Hossain, principal of Gias Uddin Islamic Model and College, Narayanganj gave a speech on behalf of the incoming Teachers and Principals.
Prof Dr Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman, the vice-chancellor of the State University, presided over the event and delivered a keynote address. In his speech, Dr Mofizur Rahman highlighted the primary goal of the quiz Olympiad.
He expressed that the event aimed to provide students with a challenging platform to showcase their knowledge and skills, motivating them to expand their understanding beyond the regular curriculum. Dr Mofizur Rahman also expressed his aspirations to organize similar events nationwide in the future.
The last part of the program was enriched with captivating dance and song participation by SUB Cultural Club. The special attraction of this part was the song of the country's popular rock band, Shironamhin.
At this time, the song of Shironamhin became loud in the SUB premises.
Members of various faculties of SUB, deans, heads of Departments, officers, and about three thousand students were present on the occasion. Tamanna Maqsood, director of SUB's Institute of Skill Development and Continuing Education, was in charge of conducting the entire program.
