The Ministry of Education has published class routines for government primary schools for the year 2024.
The routine published by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) was published by the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE).
The DPE published separate routines for single-shift and double-shift schools.
In the new year, single-shift schools will start at 9am and continue till 3:30pm.
Meanwhile, classes at double-shift schools will start at 9am and continue till 4:30pm.
According to the NCTB, school authorities can change the format of subjects if necessary by fixing period timings in the class routines.

In the new routines, there will be no examination for first, second and third graders.

Continuous (half-yearly) assessments will be conducted at the end of June and learning progress reports for assessment in December.

There are annual lesson plans as guidelines for schools to complete lessons properly on time. However, teachers can also divide the lessons according to the needs of their students, in which case the teaching of the textbook content must be completed effectively within the total working days of the academic year, according to the NCTB.
