2 held for giving proxy exams in RU admission test

Another examinee was held for attempting to hire someone to give his proxy exam

Rajshahi University (RU) administration has apprehended two for allegedly giving proxy examinations for the entry test for undergraduate students for the academic year of 2022-23.

The detainees have been identified as Md Hossain and Md Swapan Hussain.

Md Swapan is a student of Rajshahi University's Department of Public Administration. 

Both of them were detained during the first shift of 'A' unit entry test on Tuesday morning. 

Meanwhile, another examinee, Abdur Rakib, has been detained for allegedly changing the picture of his admit card. He said he wanted to hire someone to give proxy exams for him, but he could not due to financial reasons.

After interrogation, all three of the detainees admitted to their crimes. 

Md Hossain said he went to give a proxy on behalf of one Zahid Hasan Siam, while Swapan Hossain said he participated in the examination for one Tanveer Ahmed.

Prof Pradeep Kumar Panday, administrator of the university's public relations office, said: "We have detained two people. After preliminary interrogation, they confessed to their crime. A case has been filed.”

The entry test of “A” unit for undergraduate students in Rajshahi University (RU) began for the academic year of 2022-23. 

The examination will be held in four shifts.

There are four faculties and one institute under “A” unit. The faculties are – Arts, Law, Social Sciences and Fine Arts. Apart from this, education and research institutes also belong to “A” unit.

According to the admission committee of the university, against 1,939 seats in “A” unit, 72,065 aspirants are getting the opportunity to participate in the examination. 

Some 37 students are competing for each seat in the entry test.
