HSC results: Dhaka board gets highest GPA-5s

Sylhet board got the lowest number of GPA-5s

Dhaka has the highest number of GPA-5 recipients in the HSC and equivalent exams, according to the results published on Wednesday. 

A total of 62,421 students from the Dhaka board secured GPA-5 in the HSC exams. 

Rajshahi board took the second position in terms of GPA-5 recipients, with 21,855 students. 

According to the results, the third highest GPA-5 recipients were from Jessore board. A total of 18,703 students from this board received a GPA-5 followed by Comilla board with 14,991 students, Dinajpur board with 11,830 students and Chittagong board with 12,670 students. 

Sylhet board had the lowest number of GPA-5s with 4,871 students, while Barisal and Mymensingh education boards did slightly better with 7,386 and 5,028 GPA-5 recipients, respectively.

The HSC exam results were published on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina published the results at noon.

The average pass rate of last year's Higher Secondary School Certificate and its equivalent exams is 85.95%.

A total of 176,282 students got the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5).

Girl students eclipsed boys in achieving the highest number of GPA-5s in the Higher Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examinations for 2022.

They also outshone boys in the pass rate, following the trend of recent years.

As per the results, 87.48% of girls and 84.53% of boys passed the examinations from all education boards.

The female students had a 2.95% higher pass rate than their male counterparts.

Of the girls, 95,721 achieved GPA-5s and a total of 80,561 boys secured the same grade point average.

Comilla outperformed the students of the eight other general boards in terms of the pass rate.

The pass rate in Comilla for 2022's Higher Secondary School Certificate exams is 90.72%, followed by 87.83% in Dhaka, 86.95% in Barisal, 83.95% in Jessore, 81.6% in Rajshahi, 81.4% in Sylhet, 80.5% in Chittagong, 80.32% Mymensing and 79.08% Dinajpur. 

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board has a pass rate of 92.56% and the Bangladesh Technical Education Board 94.41%.

HSC and equivalent exams were held from November 6 to December 13 last year.

A total of 1,203,407 students registered to sit for the exams. Of them, 622,769 were boys and 580,611 were girls.
