The North South University (NSU) is hosting the second International Conference on Genomics, Nanotech, and Bioengineering (ICGNB) from Sunday to Tuesday.

The first one, held in 2017, was a congregation of researchers from 11 countries and a display of 270 posters, said a press release on Friday.

The conference also was the precursor to the establishment of the Genomics Research Institute at NSU.

The pandemic also brought significant research breakthroughs in the fields of this conference.

With this backdrop, the second conference of three days is going to showcase some of the developments in the wide range of domains in genomics, nanotech, and bioengineering in recent years, the release added.

This year, more than 700 hundred researchers from 75 institutions in 15 countries will showcase their findings, share ideas, and collaborate.

There will be 64 podium presentations and 332 posters in the three-day event.

The conference is being sponsored by Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd and General Pharmaceuticals Ltd as the gold sponsors, Beacon Pharmaceutical as the silver sponsor, with ACI, healthcare pharmaceutical and Astra biopharmaceutical as the associate sponsors.

Institute for Developing Science and Health Initiatives (ideSHi) will be an event partner.

The media partners will be Dhaka Tribune, Channel24, and Samakal.

The conference is set to be inaugurated in an opening ceremony on Sunday in the 1100 capacity main auditorium of the university.

The first day’s program will include the welcoming ceremony, the plenary session, as well as a cultural program presented by NSU students.

The research posters submitted by participants will be displayed from Monday, 9:30am in the NSU Plaza area.

The concurrent oral sessions and the keynotes will collectively bring more than six dozen papers to the participants.

The closing ceremony on Tuesday will be attended by Prof Dr ABM Abdullah, personal physician to prime minister and UGC professor of BSMMU, as the chief guest.

The awards for best posters will be awarded at the ceremony.
