The Second International Conference on Computing Advancements - ICCA 2022 "Age of Computing and Augmented Life" was held at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB).
The three-day long programme, organized by the Department of Computer Science of AIUB in cooperation with ACM and SIGAPP, ended successfully on Saturday.
Researchers and academicians from different corners of the world joined the conference virtually to share their research insights.
The keynote sessions and the parallel paper presentations were conducted virtually whereas the opening and closing was conducted physically on the university’s permanent campus.
The conference received massive responses from different countries such as the USA, Canada, Japan, Germany and many others.
The total number of submitted papers was 250, and among them, 86 were accepted for the conference.
All the accepted, registered and presented papers will be submitted to ACM Digital Library for publication.
Vice Chancellor of AIUB Dr Carmen Z Lamagna inaugurated the ceremony on March 10.
Member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) Professor Dr Sazzad Hossain was present as the chief guest.
Dr Sazzad appreciated AIUB for such initiatives and expressed his thoughts about “Digital Bangladesh”.
Among other distinguished guests, Prof Dr ABM Siddique Hossain, dean of the Faculty of Engineering, high officials and other faculties were also present.
Minister of Post and Telecommunication Mustafa Jabbar was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the programme.
Mustafa Jabbar appreciated that AIUB has 30 computer labs including AR & VR Labs.
The minister encouraged the young future leaders towards research and urged the universities to standardize their curriculum to shape up the students to meet industry demand.
The special guests of the closing ceremony was Additional Secretary Dr Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, managing director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, and Dr Celia Shahnaz who is a Chair-Elect of IEEE and professor of Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology.
The closing ceremony was presided over by the chairman of the Board of Trustees of AIUB, Dr Hasanul A Hasan.
The ceremony ended by the distribution of awards and crests to the contributors and sponsors of the conference as a plaque of appreciation.
