Brac University holds 14th Convocation

A total of 1,966 students received degrees

Brac University organized its 14th Convocation virtually on its official Facebook page on Thursday. 

A total of 1,966 students received degrees while 31 gold medals were awarded online in various categories.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni as chief guest presented the chancellor’s gold medals while Prof Vincent Chang, vice chancellor (VC) of Brac University, presented the VC’s gold medals. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Dipu Moni asked the universities to develop their curricula to better prepare graduates for the job market with soft skills and knowledge of technology while adopting the pandemic-induced blended and modular education. 

Among others, Tamara Hasan Abed, chairperson of the Board of Trustees (BOT), also attended the event, with Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah, chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC), present as special guest. 

Author, physicist and academic Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal was the convocation speaker.

Tamara Hasan Abed urged graduates to have the courage to think differently, lead a life of values, see beyond their self-interest and believe in the power of collective action.

Prof Vincent Chang said: “This convocation is the end of your formal learning. It is also where and when you shall start your lifelong learning”.

Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, in his speech, termed the graduating students as the valuable resource of this country which has made the country wealthier.
