The Department of English Studies (DES) of State University of Bangladesh, observed its annual English Department Day on its campus in Purbachal on January 5.
The day was commemorated with speeches and cultural programs in participation with students, guests, and faculty members, says a media statement.
Vice Chancellor Anwarul Kabir addressed the event as the chief guest.
The celebrations started with a welcome speech by Touhida Humaira, Acting Head of Department, Department of English Studies.
Dr. Sayeedur Rahman, Advisor to the Department of English Studies, in his insightful speech, portrayed the challenges and achievements the department has experienced during the shutdown because of Covid-19 since March, 2020.
A prize distribution ceremony was held for the winners of the photography and story writing competitions in the presence of Prof Dr Anwarul Kabir, and Dr Sajid Bin Doza, Acting Registrar and Head, Department of Architecture.
