The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have decided to suspend in-person classes considering the rise in Covid-19 cases across the country.
Acting registrar Rahima Kaneez confirmed the matter to reporters on Thursday.
In-person classes would remain suspended until further notice, she said. However, the ongoing exams and practical classes would continue maintaining hygiene rules.
“If necessary, the examination halls and the number of groups for practical examinations will be increased,” she added.
The decision was made at an administrative meeting on Tuesday night.
On October 11 last year, the authorities reopened residential halls and launched Covid vaccination drive on campus for teachers, students and staff.
The in-person academic activities resumed from October 21, nearly 19 months after the government shut down all educational institutions in the country.
